Peyton's 4th Birthday Party!!!

We had Peyton's party at TG Farms in Norman. There were all kinds of things there that a little farmer would love. There was a hay and corn maze, a huge slide made out of hay bales and a tin horn, a pumpkin patch, animals to feed, and a hayride! We had a cake with a backhoe and a dump truck with dirt piles and rocks everywhere. Just like when Daddy was building the pond. When we left we brought home a pumpkin and little favor bags filled with indian corn and tiny pumpkins. My mom, Rendaroo and her kids, Aunt Rhonda, Anthony and Austin, Sara and Eli, The Henry's, and Troy Don's sister and her kids all came out to help us celebrate! Peyton enjoyed every moment of it!

Peyton is 4!

Yesterday was the big day! My baby is 4. When we woke up Daddy and I sang Happy Birthday to him! He said, " Where are my presents?" I asked him why he thought that he should get one today and he said,"It's my birthday and I gotta open presents!" Daddy went and got his present out of the car for him to open. We got him a corn planter, which he has been wanting, and he was so happy about it.

When I got to Doyle and Corina's, Peyton was outside playing on the lawn mower. He said that it was his jeep and he was fixing it. Then he decided that he was ready for cake and to blow out his candles. So we all went in and he put the candles in the cake, we sang, and he blew them out! The 3 of us then went to Norman for pizza and a movie. We saw Toy Story 3 because Peyton said that he wanted to watch a move on a really big TV. He made it all the way through it without falling asleep. It was a great night for us. I am so proud of that boy!

Almost there...

So we have almost reached Peyton's 4th birthday. I can't believe that it has already been that long. I remember when he was so little he fit in David's hand and now his feet go almost to my knees when I pick him up. He is the most wonderful child anyone could have asked for. I don't know how we got so lucky, but I thank God for him!

Peyton took cupcakes to school today to celebrate his birthday. I asked him what kind he wanted and he said that he wanted chocolate with chocolate icing. We were going to make them, but didn't have enough time after he and David came in late last night from sorting cows. I just bought them and took them to him. He was happy. They had a gum ball on top! He also got a card in the mail today from Aunt Iris. He was so happy about it that he told everyone he talked to that he was a start. That is what the card said. She also sent him a book with tractor and construction stickers in it. He was pleased. I got his party reserved for the 30th and TG Farms in Norman. I hope that he has fun!

Another First...

Today, or should I say last night, my baby spent the night with someone for the very first time...

Anthony and Austin came out and spent the day with David and Peyton. They drove the semi and then went and cut hay. Austin was excited to get to ride in the semi and Peyton told him about all the different kinds of farm equipment. Anthony, Austin, and Peyton went back to Anthony's house after lunch and the boys played for the rest of the day and David went back to the field to wrap up the hay. I got a call that night and was told that someone wanted to talk to me. It was Peyton. He said, "Can I spend the night with Austin? Please? Say yes!" I couldn't tell him no. I cried after we got off the phone. I can't believe that my baby is already so big. David and I were ready to go get him at bedtime, but we made ourselves be a good little mama and daddy and leave him be. It is amazing how hard it is letting your kid grow up...

On another note, I had a good day garage sailing with Kelsea and Addie.

Super Harvest Moon!

Tonight I remembered that there was supposed to be a super harvest moon. I got Peyton out of bed and we went and looked at it. It was so bright. I grabbed the camera and took some pictures of it. Peyton has now seen his first rare occasion! The last time that there was a super harvest moon was in 1991 ( I was 10). There won't be another until 2029. It is amazing to think that the next time Peyton is able to see what we saw tonight he will be 22 years old.
I was just thinking about the book Let Me Hold You Longer and I realized that there has been a very significant last for us. Peyton has been potty trained for a while now so it is nothing new, but when we started there was a song and dance. It was the Pee Pee dance. It went a little something like this, “Pee Pee dance, Pee Pee dance, Oh, Oh, Oh!” After he was done, we would sing this while we hopped and danced around. It was really cute watching Peyton do it and I didn’t realize until today that there is no more Pee Pee dance. It makes me kind of sad. I suppose I need to notice the lasts a little more because he is getting so big that they are going to be more and more.
Today I printed out a tooth brushing calendar. I bought a new toothpaste to try and I think that this one might be the best so far. It is a new one by Burt’s Bees and it taste like orange. He seems to like the calendar and the idea of it so maybe we can do better with the tooth brushing issue. I guess we will see. I think that I may try a calendar for picking up toys if this one works. We have to figure out something!
School has been going well. He still loves to go and he is bringing home the best pictures. They are on the letter “C”. I have been laminating them all and I have them in a special binder. I look forward to coming home on school days to see what my baby has made me. He said that he ate cupcakes yesterday because it was Zeke’s birthday. He had a goodie bag with candy and a little stuffed horse. It looked as though there was a cowboy theme. He told me that he does not like Immerson because she is mean and she wears dresses and he does not like her dresses. He said that she is supposed to wear pants. I thought that was pretty funny. One day he will like it when girls wear dresses! I hope that is a long time from now. I am not ready for the girl crazies just yet!

Tractor Pulls!

Friday night started a weekend of tractor pulls for us. Friday was the McClain County Free Fair. Peyton competed in the tractor pulls, but he didn't win. There were some small kids that the people running the pulls pushed a long so Peyton missed it by an inch to one of those small kids that got helped. He came in 4th out of 6 with 23 in. He missed 3rd by an inch.My poor baby was heart broken that he didn't get a trophy. When we were leaving he tried to go get one off the table. When he realized that he didn't get one he cried. So did his mama. I felt terrible. He said that he didn't have fun because he didn't win. David and I let him know that no matter the outcome, if he did his best that he is a winner because he tried. It didn't help either that he was tired and didn't have a nap all day that day.

Saturday he woke up telling us that he wanted to go to tractor pulls again. We weren't sure if we were going to take him since he was so upset the night before. We decided that we would since he enjoyed it. We went to the Cleveland County Tractor Pulls this time and it was organized much better than the one in Purcell. Peyton was one of 4, 4 year olds that competed. He came in 2nd with 12.3 inches! He won a trophy! We were/are so proud of him!

Peyton's Garden

Peyton has been growing a garden at Grandma's. He grew some beans, but they have gone through their cycle so he is now growing Millet (we think he accidentally raked all the millet away) and watermelon. He is so proud!

Tractor butts drive me nuts!!!

He's so darn sweet!

Silhouettes!

Peyton and I went out the other morning before work to snap and few pics. This is what we came back in with!

It's already September...

This year has gone by so fast. Peyton will be 4 in a month and then it will be Christmas. It is so amazing how the time goes by once you grow up.

Today was Peyton's day to take snacks to school. We went shopping and he chose Yoohoos and Cheezits. He was super excited when David took him to school. David told me that Peyton insisted on helping carry them all in. He wouldn't tell us anything about it though when we asked. He was tired by the time that I got home and fell asleep soon after. I will try and ask him again tomorrow and see if I can get anymore out of him. He did tell me the other day that he likes Addy, Tanner, and Tucker. He said that Immerson is mean because she slaps people. They are some of the kids in his class.

Friday night we went to the mall and let Peyton play for a while and then went and ate at Chick-fil-a. He has a really good time there. I really like going there too. I love the fact that they put fresh flowers on the table. It makes you feel like they actually care and I think that they do.

David was telling me the other day that he and Peyton were driving around the pasture and K-9 was on top of a hay bale. Peyton said, "Look Daddy, K-9 is on top of the world!"

Girl in the pink shirt...

Today I left work early to pick Peyton up from preschool. When I got there he came out with his craft and gave me a big hug. Then he told me that the girl in the pink shirt was so nice to him. I had him go show me which one and I think that her name is Addy.  I asked him how she was nice to him and he said that she told him that she was his friend. When he told me that she was so nice to him he sounded like such a big boy. I remember thinking...I wonder how he knows to put "so" in there. It's funny how you hear things that you wouldn't normally hear and focus on when you are a mother. I love being his mama.

My sweet boy!

Last Sunday we were laying in bed and Peyton said, "Mama, you're beautiful." That kid makes my heart swell. I don't know how David and I ever got so lucky, but God blessed us with an amazing little man. Peyton and I also decided that I need a dog pillow pet so I won't have to share his dolphin.

Hay and more hay!

The night before last (the 24th) Peyton and I went with David to haul some of the hay that he bailed at the game refuge. It was really nice outside. It had rained that morning and it was about 85 degrees with a breeze. It felt like fall. I can’t wait!

We went in the big truck and I sat in the passenger seat and Peyton sat on the water jug. Peyton wanted to help his daddy so he had a good time trying to unroll the straps and help getting them situated. While David and Larry were loading the 1-ton, Peyton and I walked around looking at the ground. It looked pretty bare because of the type of grass that was planted. It was called fox tail millet because the tops looked like a fuzzy fox tail. It was loaded with seeds and the game warden said that he wanted it cut to disperse them. The seeds attract doves and that was what he wanted. Peyton liked all the seeds on the ground. He would pick up a piece of grass, have me twist the seeds out in his hand, and walk around replanting them in the dirt. At one point he grabbed my shirt and started wiping at his eye. I asked him if he had dirt in it and he said, “No, a seed. I don’t want plants to grow in my eyes.”

A convoy and a party!

Yesterday David started bailing the spots that he got over at the game refuge. He pulled the semi with the tractor on it, Larry drove the 1 ton with the bailer, and I pulled the hay rake with my car. I offered to do it so that they didn't have to make a trip back to get it before they could start. It was my first time pulling anything. It was hard to get used to because it felt like I was driving on a blow out. Peyton had a ball riding in the tractor. He did for most of the day, but decided that he was going to stay at Grandma's when the guys came in for a bit.

Ava's birthday party was last night. We were late as always. The kids played on the trampoline and the swings and everything else. At one point the kids were going to play in the sprinkler so Peyton got a pair of Austin's shorts. He got wet and then immediately found the dirt. He was covered in red mud and was chasing the other kids. He had a lot of fun. It was good hanging out with Amy and her family. It felt like old times.

Another day down!

Peyton went to school for the 2nd time this last Thursday. I am a little late writing about it because he fell asleep right before I got home and slept the rest of the night. The next morning he was up at 5:00 in the morning wanting chicken fries. Needless to say, it was a long day, but I wouldn't have traded it for anything. I was able to get out of him that they ate popcorn and pretzels for snacks. That was it though because he had moved on to cartoons. He did tell me later that Sally was crying and he didn't cry because he was a big boy! I am pretty sure that Sally is the youngest of the kids in his class and is having a hard time being left. We also got the list for when he is supposed to bring snacks. He told his daddy that he wanted to take chips with no cheese on them. Silly boy!

Peyton's first day of preschool!

We took this right before we left! He was so excited!
Today was Peyton's first day of preschool. The First Baptist Church in Lexington has a preschool program that is 2 days a week. He will be going Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 3:00. When we got there to drop him off he ran straight in and that was the end of us. I did convince him to give me a kiss before I left, but trying to get him to take a quick picture with me was not going to happen. He said that he played with a track hoe and 2 dump trucks. His teacher's name is Ms. Teresa and she has a helper named Ms. Carolyn. Peyton said that they read a story about an airplane, but then he said that it was about a furry bear. Hmmm, maybe it was about a furry bear that flew an airplane! We asked him what he ate for snack and he said that he had round cheetos and red juice. He said that the juice was red like the paint that he painted with. He came home with a craft project of his hands. Of course, mama got weepy and let him know that it was the most beautiful picture that I had ever seen. I am so proud of my little boy!
